Mobile emoji picker should open as a bottom sheet instead of the desktop floating popup #1222
Description
On mobile, the emoji picker currently uses the same floating popup behavior as desktop. This is not a good mobile experience.
Rocket.Chat’s updated mobile behavior is a better pattern:
- tapping the emoji button opens the emoji picker from the bottom, in place of the keyboard
- the keyboard stays closed by default
- tapping the search field inside the emoji picker opens the keyboard
- desktop behavior remains unchanged
Current behavior
- On small screens, tapping the emoji button opens the same floating picker used on desktop
- The interaction feels cramped and not optimized for mobile
- The keyboard/input focus behavior does not match the expected mobile composer flow
