Audio Server Boot Error (Sonic Pi v4.6.0 & v4.5.1)

UPDATE 20251114:

On Sam's advice, I uninstalled v4.6.0 and installed v4.5.1 instead. However, I get exactly the same error screen and exactly the same problems as reported below [see ORIGINAL POST 20251110]:

There is no SuperCollider Log!

In C:\Users[USERNAME].sonic-pi there is no config folder, so audio-settings.toml does not exist. Also, the log file C:\Users[USERNAME].sonic-pi\log\scsynth.log is blank.

The audio rate of the audio input and output of my USB audio interface (Roland Edirol UA-101) is 48,000 Hz. No other audio application is having any problem running.

ORIGINAL POST 20251110:

I have installed Sonic Pi 4.6.0 on my new Beelink SER9 Pro mini-PC (CPU: AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 w/ Radeon 890M) running Windows 11 v.25H2, but Sonic Pi fails to start.

I get this screen:

There is no SuperCollider Log!

On my old computer (ASUS TUF Gaming A17, which died recently) I never had this problem.

Can anyone help me to get Sonic Pi running?

Hi there, could you try a couple of things and see if either helps us narrow this down?

1. Run scsynth manually

1. Close Sonic Pi completely.

2. Open Command Prompt (not PowerShell).

3. Run the following commands:

   cd "C:\Program Files\Sonic Pi\app\server\native"
   scsynth.exe -u 31357 -a 1024 -m 131072 -D 0 -R 0 -l 1 -i 0 -o 2 -b 4096 -B 127.0.0.1 -U "C:\Program Files\Sonic Pi\app\server\native\plugins"

(If Sonic Pi is installed somewhere else on your machine, adjust the path accordingly.)

Please let us know:

• Whether the Command Prompt prints any text
• Whether the window stays open or closes immediately
• Whether Windows shows any antivirus or SmartScreen warnings

2. Try booting without your external sound card

1. Unplug your external USB sound card / audio interface.
2. Set your default Windows playback device to your built-in audio (speakers/headphones).
3. Start Sonic Pi again.

Let us know what happens in both cases — this will help determine whether the issue is related to the audio driver or something more general with scsynth on your system.

Hi Sam,
Irrespective of whether I am using the external sound card or the built-in audio, when I run those two commands in Command Prompt, the Administrator: C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe window stays open. There are no antivirus or SmartScreen warnings. After a couple of seconds, this line appears:
C:\Program Files\Sonic Pi\app\server\native

When I try to boot Sonic Pi with the default Windows playback device set to the built-in audio, I get the generic Audio Server Boot Error screen and these Daemon.log contents:
