Apologies for the delay been on PTO, hmm.... does look a little like there might be something else wrong in the ACPI here. I notice from the log:

But there should be additional entries for the CODEC there. Could you add this attached additional debug patch and then grab a log both with and without #5773? I will see and I can see any clues in your ACPI dump.

By the way, on the vanilla 7.0.9 kernel, intel/sof-ipc4-tplg/sof-ptl-rt722-4ch.tplg was the one selected — not sure whether this detail is helpful.

Yeah the rt722 isn't real it is in the ACPI but doesn't really exist in the system, so we are trying to avoid it doing anything with that. Looking more closely I see this system is actually a pretty odd configuration (it doesn't use the headphones or mics on cs42l43 only the speakers and the cs35l56's are connected directly to the codec), so it does actually make sense that the system is only showing the one smart mic. What is a bit weird is I can see:

Which all relate to not finding the widgets from the codec driver, I wonder if the codec driver probe defered and I think there are some issues with that at the moment. Could you try including a5bec62 and reverting a337552 ASoC: core: Complete support for card rebinding

If that fails we might need to start putting some more debug in the codec driver to see why it is not registering the widgets.

It doesn't look like commit a337552 can be reverted cleanly on top of 7.1-rc.5. So instead, I based my test on 7.0.9, cherry-picked a5bec62, and reverted a337552. The results look pretty much the same as the previous dmesg, with the same failure cause.

I'm also curious why the patches provided in omacom-io/omarchy-pkgs#97 allow the speaker to work normally (or at least somewhat normally). A friend of mine tested it for me, and it does indeed get the speaker to produce sound.

Adding a hard match basically ignores the acpi (well parts of it) so it doesn't get confused by the broken bios but the trouble with that approach is we tend to get erroneous matches for other similar laptops and it needs done for each laptop. We are trying to move to a system of building the audio from the acpi so we only need to do stuff for the broken ones. I will create a debug patch tomorrow and share that, kinda at a bit of a loss as to what is happening there it is really weird. Seems to not be able to find parts of the codec but it looks like it added them. Please bear with me on this would be great to get to the bottom of it before others hit the same thing.

Thanks, for bearing with me on this, lets try this. It puts some extra debug in probe to see if the codec probe is completing in time and when we fail to add the routes it dumps all the widget names so should let us see what the system thinks does exist. Hopefully this will give us some clues on why it can't find the widgets.

Ok that is definitely progress we can clearly see why this is failing:

That prefix is not what I was expecting, should be just "cs42l43". I think @bardliao had some patches that added numbers to the prefix in some cases, I guess that is perhaps mistakenly applying on bridge systems (amps being connected through the codec). Let me investigate a little and report back.

It is likely that cs42l43 is treated as an amp. The is_amp flag will be false only if there is any other endpoint found in cs42l43.
