Karpathy never contributed to your repo you liar

This is one of the most dishonest things ive ever seen in my life. Idk how you got the user to pin to karpathy in git, but he never made those commits. Youre peddling snake oil there buddy.

Thanks for flagging this. That does seem quite strange, since we haven’t granted karpathy access to the repository.

We currently have one person handling the commits centrally, so it looks like the contributor information on those commits may have been set incorrectly. We’ll check the commit history and confirm with the rest of the team to make sure we understand exactly what happened.

Update after checking the commit history.

The commits in question were produced by an AI coding agent we use to help maintain the repository. Its task was to look through related open-source work for ideas worth borrowing. During that run it appears to have picked up an author identity from the material it was reading and applied it to its own commits, which git accepts without verification. We gave the agent more freedom than it should have had, and we are tightening its permissions so it can no longer touch git identity or commit on its own.

We have rewritten the history of main to drop those commits and force-pushed. The current history contains only commits from our own account, which anyone can verify with git log. We have also asked GitHub Support to purge the cached views of the dangling commits and refresh the contributors panel; it may keep showing the stale entry until that cache clears.
