Pest Farmer Issue

I dont know if im just demented but I dont know how to setup pest farming so it kills the pests after it reaches like 5 instead of letting 8 pests sit there until i reach my rewarp. Is this a bug or have i just messed up the settings.

turn on "start pest destroyer during farming"
