On Windows, shutil.which("soffice") detects soffice.COM instead of
soffice.exe, causing PDF generation to fail with a "potentially dangerous
character" warning due to backslashes in the path.

This fix:

Adds a helper function _get_libreoffice_bin() that on Windows directly
checks for soffice.exe instead of relying on shutil.which()
Updates _validate_command_args() to skip the executable path and -env:
arguments from backslash checks, as these are valid on Windows
Uses _get_libreoffice_bin() consistently across all call sites

Tested on Windows 11 with LibreOffice 26.2.1.2 - PDF now generates successfully.

On Windows, _get_libreoffice_bin() still falls back to shutil.which("soffice") when the hard-coded C:/Program Files/.../soffice.exe path is missing. This can reintroduce the original failure mode because shutil.which("soffice") may resolve soffice.COM (PATHEXT order) instead of soffice.exe. Prefer an explicit lookup for soffice.exe (e.g., shutil.which("soffice.exe")), and/or detect a .COM result and replace it with a sibling .exe when present; also consider checking common install locations via PROGRAMFILES/PROGRAMFILES(X86) instead of a single fixed path.

Fixed — now using shutil.which("soffice.exe") explicitly as fallback on Windows to avoid soffice.COM detection.

_validate_command_args() skips the executable and -env: args, but it still validates output_dir and source_path (both are filesystem paths) against characters like ( and ) that are valid in common Windows paths (e.g., Program Files (x86)). This can still block LibreOffice conversion on Windows depending on the repo location. Consider skipping known path arguments (e.g., values for --outdir and the input file path), or make the validation platform-aware / narrowly targeted to user-controlled non-path args (especially since subprocess.run is invoked with shell=False).

Fixed — now skipping --outdir and --convert-to argument values, and all args starting with - to avoid blocking valid Windows paths with ( and ).

The new Windows-specific LibreOffice resolution logic in _get_libreoffice_bin() isn’t covered by tests (e.g., ensuring that when shutil.which("soffice") would return soffice.COM, the code selects soffice.exe instead). Since this repo already has tests/scripts/convert_utest.py, please add unit tests that mock platform.system() and shutil.which() to exercise the .COM vs .EXE selection and the fallback install-path search behavior.
