The --production flag is deprecated in npm 8+ and causes warnings that can be treated as errors. Replace with --omit=dev which is the modern equivalent, supported in npm 7+.

Approving because --production is deprecated and --omit=dev is the favored solution. However, I'll point out that the referenced issue actually says the issue was separate from this, so should probably remain open.
