Summary

  • Add a global Home anchor pointing at /, matching the product-guide pattern
  • Keeps the root index.mdx landing page off the sidebar while making it reachable from nav

Test plan

  • Open the help-center preview and confirm a Home anchor appears
  • Click Home and land on the custom homepage at /

Expose the root landing page in nav the same way product-guide does, without listing index in the sidebar.

The logo rule targeted every sidebar link to /, so the new Home icon stretched to the empty SVG default height.

Restores the theme left margin so the 1px ring is not cut off by the sidebar scroll area.

Puts index.mdx in the sidebar before Quickstart and drops the Home global anchor that was fighting logo CSS.

A second global anchor keeps Home from sitting alone at the top of the sidebar, matching the product-guide pattern.

Reuse the book-open icon on the Docs sidebar anchor so Home is not a lone link, without duplicating Docs in the product dropdown.

Drop global anchors so we can preview Home and Docs as regular nav pages above the groups.

We are merging this in to solve 2 problems:

  • showing an easily accessible/visible Home link
  • showing Home in the publishing tab of the docs

I think we can still improve the design here or consider some new way of including vital pages like Home here in docs.json in a way that allows them to normally show up in the Publishing tab
