v10.3.0: 🌈 Add Python architecture selection

Compare Source

Changes

This release adds the python-arch input to select a Python architecture independently of the Python version. With uv 0.13.0 or later, set python-arch: x86_64 to use x64 Python on Windows ARM64 runners.

It also includes embedded checksums for uv releases through 0.13.0.

v10.2.0: 🌈 Disable automatic cache saves for merge queues

Compare Source

Changes

This release contains the known-checksum of the most recent uv releases and also disabled the uploading(saving) of the cache when in a merge queue since theses caches would almost never be used.

laurent-laporte-pro/deprecated (deprecated)

v3.0.0

Compare Source

Major release: Python 3.12+ modernization

[!WARNING]
This release drops the support of Python 2.7 and of Python 3 versions older than 3.12.
Use Deprecated 1.3.x on these versions: pip keeps resolving to 1.3.x on Python < 3.12.

[!IMPORTANT]
Upgrading from 1.x — the public API (@deprecated, @deprecated_params,
deprecated.sphinx, ClassicAdapter) is unchanged, but check the following points:

• wrapt >= 1.16 is required (was >= 1.10);
• deprecated.__date__ and deprecated.classic.string_types are removed;
• from deprecated import * only exports deprecated and deprecated_params;
• stacked @deprecated_params decorators emit one warning per deprecated parameter;
• the warnings of deprecated subclasses now refer to the user code: tests which assert
the file name or the line number of a warning may need to be updated.

[!NOTE]
There is no 2.x release: the major version 3 was chosen to match Python 3.

Changed
• Require Python >= 3.12 and wrapt >= 1.16 (first wrapt release supporting Python 3.12).
See PR #102.
• Migrate the packaging from setuptools (setup.py/setup.cfg/MANIFEST.in) to
pyproject.toml with the Hatchling build backend; the version is read from
src/deprecated/__init__.py.
• Adopt the src layout: the package moves to src/deprecated
(the tests stay in tests and the documentation in docs).
• Manage the project with uv (uv.lock) and Hatch: tox is dropped and replaced
by the hatch test matrix.
• Modernize the Makefile (uv/Hatch based targets, run make help).
• Replace bump2version by hatch version <major|minor|patch>: the version is only defined
in src/deprecated/__init__.py, and the git tag is created by GitHub when the release
is published.
• Update the Fedora RPM spec file to the %pyproject_* macros.
Removed
• Remove the inspect2 dependency (it was only used on Python 2). See PR #102.
• Remove the Python 2 compatibility constructs (u"" literals, coding cookies,
class Foo(object), super(Class, self), OrderedDict...). See PR #102.
• Remove the undocumented deprecated.classic.string_types compatibility tuple.
A bytes positional reason is still accepted by @deprecated, as before. See PR #102.
• Remove the deprecated.__date__ attribute (the release dates are in the changelog).
See PR #102.
Added
• Add the deprecated.google module: the @deprecated, @versionadded and @versionchanged
decorators insert a Deprecated:, Version added: or Version changed: section
in Google style
docstrings (see the "Google" decorators
page). See PR #105.
• Add the deprecated.numpy module: the @deprecated, @versionadded and @versionchanged
decorators insert a Deprecated, Version added or Version changed section
in NumPy style
docstrings (see the "NumPy" decorators
page). See PR #106.
• Add the ClassicAdapter.warn() method used to emit the deprecation warning
(can be overridden by custom adapters). See PR #102.
• Add Python 3.12 type annotations to the public API and ship the py.typed marker (PEP 561):
the decorators preserve the signature of the decorated functions and classes. See PR #102.
• Add __all__ to the deprecated package: from deprecated import * only exports
deprecated and deprecated_params. See PR #102.
Fixed
• Deprecated functions and methods can now be pickled (by reference, like regular functions),
so they can be used with multiprocessing and the spawn start method (the default one on
Windows and macOS), for instance as a Process target or with Pool.map().
Previously, pickling failed with NotImplementedError: object proxy must define __reduce_ex__()
(#16). See PR #108 and PR #111
(a function decorated with @deprecated above @staticmethod could not be pickled).
• When a deprecated class inherits from a deprecated class, all the deprecation warnings now refer
to the user code (previously, the warning of the parent class referred to classic.py).
The warnings are emitted with skip_file_prefixes (Python 3.12+): the frames of this library
and of wrapt are skipped, whatever the wrapt implementation (C extension or pure Python).
See PR #102.
• Stacked @deprecated_params decorators now emit only one warning for each deprecated
parameter: the message (and category) of the outermost decorator wins, as documented
in the tutorial. The warnings refer to the caller. See PR #102.
Documentation
• Convert the documentation from reStructuredText to Markdown (MyST), built with Sphinx 9.1
and MyST-Parser 5.1. The API page remains in reStructuredText (autodoc), and the docstrings
are still written in reStructuredText. See PR #103.
• Convert the root files to plain Markdown, readable on GitHub: CHANGELOG.md,
CONTRIBUTING.md and LICENSE.md.
• Declare the documentation dependencies in the docs dependency group of pyproject.toml
(docs/requirements.txt is removed); ReadTheDocs installs them with uv.
• Check the documentation build in the CI (make docs-check: warnings are errors).
• Rewrite the white paper: state of the art of deprecation in Python (warning categories and
stack level, PEP 702 and the type checkers, the CPython policy, practices of major Open Source
projects, best practices), and how to combine warnings.deprecated with this library.
See PR #104.
• Remove the ebook, LaTeX, manual page and Texinfo configuration of the documentation (HTML only),
with the files used by the ebook (cover, title page and blurb).
• Rework the README: a short presentation, the warning emitted, the options of @deprecated,
@deprecated_params, and how the library complements warnings.deprecated (PEP 702).
The "Authors" section now tells who started the library and who maintains it.
• New logo (a "best before: next major" price tag), shown in the README and on the home page
of the documentation; it replaces the rusty tools image. See PR #109.
• Switch the documentation to the Furo theme, with light, dark
and automatic (system preference) modes, and the red of the logo as accent color.
The code is highlighted with the Lovelace (light) and Gruvbox dark (dark) Pygments styles,
tuned for contrast (WCAG AA). See PR #110.
• Add make docs-live to preview the documentation while editing it: the pages are rebuilt
and the browser is reloaded on each change (sphinx-autobuild, docs-live dependency group).
See PR #110.
• Present the Google and NumPy docstring decorators in the documentation. See PR #107.
• Document the release process (docs/source/release.md).
• Fix the outputs quoted in the tutorial and in the Sphinx page, stale references and typos
of the documentation and of the docstrings. See PR #111.
Other
• Run the CI with uv and Hatch on Python 3.12, 3.13 and 3.14 (Linux, macOS and Windows),
plus the wrapt compatibility matrix (wrapt 1.16, 1.17 and 2.x on every supported Python)
and the pure Python implementation of wrapt. See PR #102 and PR #111.
• Add the hatch check code (Ruff lint), hatch check fmt (Ruff format)
and hatch check types (mypy, strict mode) quality checks. See PR #102.
• Add non-regression tests for the behaviours which differ between Python 2 and Python 3,
and make the test_sphinx_metaclass tests test the Sphinx decorator. See PR #102.
• Bump the GitHub Actions versions. See PR #99.
• Run CodeQL on the develop and master branches, and add Dependabot version updates
(GitHub Actions and uv.lock). See PR #111.
• Publish the coverage to Coveralls (README badge), and fail the tests below 95% of coverage.
See PR #111.
• Add AGENTS.md and CLAUDE.md: guidance for AI coding agents.
pytest-dev/pytest-rerunfailures (pytest-rerunfailures)

v16.7

Compare Source

Features
++++++++

• Allow configuring only_rerun regular expressions in pytest.ini files.
(#165 <https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-rerunfailures/issues/165>_)
• Show each rerun attempt and its final outcome in the rerun test summary info
section. (#191 <https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-rerunfailures/issues/191>_)
• Allow flaky marker conditions to inspect the exception that caused a failed
test phase, including when running with pytest-xdist. (#230 <https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-rerunfailures/issues/230>_)

Bug Fixes
+++++++++

• Match only_rerun against the full exception chain (__cause__ and
__context__), not only the outermost exception. Match rerun_except
against explicit __cause__ links only, so implicit except /
finally context does not suppress reruns. (#353 <https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-rerunfailures/issues/353>_)
• Fix INTERNALERROR when only_rerun or rerun_except is given a bare
exception class instead of a list. (#362 <https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-rerunfailures/issues/362>_)
• Fix subtest reruns with newer pytest versions that use structured NodeId
values internally. (#363 <https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-rerunfailures/issues/363>_)
• Mark teardown failures from an attempt that is rerun as reruns, so a later
successful attempt is not reported as an error. (#366 <https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-rerunfailures/issues/366>_)

Misc
++++

• Keep the test suite passing when pytest-randomly is installed, including when
the outer pytest is started with -p no:randomly. (#218 <https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-rerunfailures/issues/218>_)
• Test the free-threaded Python 3.14 build in CI, via a new py314t tox
environment and a matching workflow job. (#361 <https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-rerunfailures/issues/361>_)

v16.6.1

Compare Source

Bug Fixes
+++++++++

• Ensure teardown reports are passed to pytest_runtest_logreport for rerun
attempts. (#237 <https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-rerunfailures/issues/237>_)
• Prevent superseded built-in subtest failures from remaining in the final test
result when rerunning tests with pytest-xdist. (#350 <https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-rerunfailures/issues/350>_)
• Restore module, class, and session scoped fixture teardown when a flaky
marker condition is falsy. (#351 <https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-rerunfailures/issues/351>_)
• Restore module, class, and session scoped fixture teardown when an error
raised during teardown rules out a re-run. (#356 <https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-rerunfailures/issues/356>_)
• Keep module, class, and session scoped fixtures alive across re-runs of a
test whose call phase failed through subtests only. (#357 <https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-rerunfailures/issues/357>_)
• Authenticate xdist StatusDB connections with a per-session token. (#358 <https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-rerunfailures/issues/358>_)
• Ensure negative rerun counts do not skip the initial test execution. (#359 <https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-rerunfailures/issues/359>_)

Misc
++++

• Replace deprecated Config.getvalue() calls with Config.getoption().
(#345 <https://github.com/pytest-dev/pytest-rerunfailures/issues/345>_)
theskumar/python-dotenv (python-dotenv)

v1.2.4

Compare Source

Fixed
• dotenv get no longer exits with code 1 for empty string values (KEY=) by [@ShamikOfficial] in [#700]
• An unquoted empty value followed by an inline comment (e.g. KEY= # comment) is now parsed as an empty string instead of the comment text by [@Noethix55555] in [#663]
• dotenv run --no-override now expands variable references with the same precedence as load_dotenv(override=False), so a value like ${BASE}/suffix uses the existing BASE from the environment instead of the one from the .env file by [@ROTl24] in [#698]
python-jsonschema/check-jsonschema (python-jsonschema/check-jsonschema)

astral-sh/ruff (ruff)

v0.17.0

Compare Source

Released on 2026-10-09.

The executables in our macOS and Windows release archives and ruff wheels are now code-signed.
macOS executables are signed with an Apple Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple. Windows
executables have timestamped Authenticode signatures from Azure Artifact Signing. This enables
verification of the release publisher and binary integrity, supports publisher-based allowlisting,
and should reduce security warnings and antivirus false positives.

Breaking changes
• Update the default and latest Python versions for 3.15 (#28792)

Ruff now defaults to Python 3.11 instead of 3.10 when no Python version is configured through
target-version or
requires-python. When
checking for syntax errors without a configured Python version, Ruff now defaults to Python 3.15
instead of 3.14.

• Update the default rule set (#28786)

Several of the flake8-datetimez rules
(DTZ001,
DTZ005,
DTZ006,
DTZ007,
DTZ011,
DTZ012, and
DTZ901) are no longer enabled by default,
while undefined-local-with-nested-import-star-usage
(F406), which corresponds to a syntax error, is now enabled by default.

• Update Rust crate quick-junit to 0.8.0 (#27295)

JUnit output now uses a skipped attribute instead of disabled on <testsuite> elements and
includes a skipped attribute on the root <testsuites> element.

• [flake8-import-conventions] Add datetime as dt as a conventional alias (ICN001) (#28790)

• Support Unicode dummy variable names (#28722)

The default lint.dummy-variable-rgx
now recognizes underscore-prefixed Unicode names, such as _次, as dummy variables.

• Update to Unicode 17 (#21229, #28784)

Ruff now uses Unicode 17 data for identifier normalization and named character escapes ("\N{...}").

• Always show unsafe and display-only fixes in the CLI (#27810)

The default full output format now shows unsafe fixes and suggestions requiring manual review,
regardless of the unsafe-fixes setting.
Actually applying unsafe fixes still requires explicit opt-in.

• Remove the Python dependency from conda-forge builds (conda-forge/ruff-feedstock#361)

The conda-forge build no longer depends on Python, now supports linux-riscv64, win-arm64, and
linux-ppc64le platforms, and now includes shell completions. However, no longer depending on
Python means that python -m ruff and import ruff will no longer work. Use ruff directly from
PATH instead. PyPI installations and those from the standalone installer are unaffected.

• Remove support for ruff-lsp (#28750)

Support for ruff-lsp, the legacy Python language server deprecated in Ruff
v0.9.5
, has been removed. The Ruff VS Code
extension now always uses the native language server; ruff.nativeServer is deprecated and
ignored. See the migration guide.

Stabilization

The following rules have been stabilized and are no longer in preview:

The following behaviors have been stabilized:

• The formatter, unsorted-imports (I001),
line-too-long (E501), and
doc-line-too-long (W505) now
consistently ignore trailing pragma comments when computing line length. This resolved several
bugs involving interactions between these rules
(#27313) but may also cause existing imports to be
reformatted and was thus classified as a breaking change.

⚠️ Artifact update problem

Renovate failed to update an artifact related to this branch. You probably do not want to merge this PR as-is.

♻ Renovate will retry this branch, including artifacts, only when one of the following happens:

• any of the package files in this branch needs updating, or
• the branch becomes conflicted, or
• you click the rebase/retry checkbox if found above, or
• you rename this PR's title to start with "rebase!" to trigger it manually

The artifact failure details are included below:

File name: uv.lock
warning: The `requires-python` specifier (`~=3.11`) in `selenium-python-example` uses the tilde specifier (`~=`) without a patch version. This will be interpreted as `>=3.11, <4`. Did you mean `~=3.11.0` to constrain the version as `>=3.11.0, <3.12`? We recommend only using the tilde specifier with a patch version to avoid ambiguity.
Using CPython 3.11.17 interpreter at: /opt/containerbase/tools/python/3.11.17/bin/python3
error: No solution found when resolving dependencies for split (markers: python_full_version == '3.11.*')
cause: Because the requested Python version (>=3.11, <4) does not satisfy Python>=3.12 and deprecated==3.0.0 depends on Python>=3.12, we can conclude that deprecated==3.0.0 cannot be used.
And because only deprecated<=3.0.0 is available and your project depends on deprecated==3.0.0, we can conclude that your project's requirements are unsatisfiable.

hint: The `requires-python` value (>=3.11, <4) includes Python versions that are not supported by your dependencies (e.g., deprecated==3.0.0 only supports >=3.12). Consider using a more restrictive `requires-python` value (like >=3.12).
