There is currenlty no channel to opt into nuxt v5 nightly via cli

📚 Description

Install footprint and published tarball

Each version installed on its own into an empty project with nothing but @nuxt/cli as a dependency, so the tree is exactly the CLI and its transitive dependencies. npm cache is warm and the registry is only consulted for metadata, so install wall time is indicative, not a network benchmark.

Walkthrough

The upgrade command adds the v5-nightly channel and maps it to the 5.x nightly package tag. The interactive prompt offers 5.x instead of 3.x. The command retains its existing v3, v4, v3-nightly, and v4-nightly resolution options. The documentation and help snapshot list v5-nightly.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title names the two main changes: adding the v5-nightly channel and soft-deprecating the v3 channels. It matches the changeset, which adds v5-nightly to the upgrade command, help snapshot and docs, and removes v3 channels from the docs and prompts. It is specific and follows conventional commit style. The title omits v3-nightly, which the objectives mention, but this is a minor detail.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description states the purpose: adding a v5-nightly channel so users can opt into Nuxt v5 nightly via the CLI. It also says the v3 channels are removed from documentation to avoid breaking existing CLI commands. This matches the changeset. It has typos ('currenlty') and does not mention the code or test changes, but it is related to the changes and the check is lenient.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 0.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 2 functions across 3 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Comment thread docs/upgrade.md Outdated
The `upgrade` command upgrades Nuxt to the latest version. It updates the version in your [`package.json`](/docs/directory-structure/package), reinstalls dependencies with your package manager and removes the build cache.

`--channel` picks what to upgrade to: `stable` for the latest release, `v3` or `v4` to stay on a major, and `nightly`, `v3-nightly` or `v4-nightly` for the nightly release channel.

Remove the remaining v3 documentation.

The command syntax and options table no longer list v3, but this sentence still advertises v3 as a supported channel. Remove it from the sentence, or label it explicitly as a legacy undocumented channel.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win

Align the help expectation with valueHint.

upgrade.ts now sets valueHint to stable|nightly|v4|v4-nightly|v5-nightly, but this expectation still contains v3. Citty uses valueHint for the help display, so the help test will fail. Update this expected string to match the intended hidden legacy channels, or restore v3 in valueHint and document that choice. (github.com)
